Overview
This is a 4 week block of Crochet, Knitting and Darning classes, where you are able to develop your skills with one of the projects available in class, or work on a project of your choosing. The classes are held in a lovely home studio in Woodford (address details on booking). At each class there will be tea, coffee and freshly baked cake available.
Introduction to Crochet
We are going back to basics in this block, covering the basics of crochet, including how to do a square, straight edges, circle, increases and decreases.
Here you will be able to develop your knowledge of how to crochet and read patterns and understanding tension and guage. You will have the opportunity to create a couple of small projects. These include a tea pot cosy, bag, glasses case etc.
You will have the option of bringing your own yarn and hook (any 4-8ply and 4-5.5mm hook is fine) or you can use hooks and yarn in class.
Introduction to knitting
Learn the basics of knitting, including how to knit, purl, increase and decrease. We cover how knitted fabric differs from crochet fabric, how to fix errors, and how to identify where you're up to in your knitting.
We go over the differences and similarities between knitting and crochet patterns and how to basic stitch patterns such as garter, stockinette, eyelets and ribbing.
You can make a number of small projects including fingerless mitts, a coaster, pin cushion or something else you fancy!
Flexibility
All the classes are flexible, with the ability for you to continue working on the projects from class, something from home, or undertake an introduction to intermediate or lace crochet.
Intermediate Crochet
These will cover further information about patterns, (including AI patterns), how to adapt patterns, and techniques such as colourwork, surface crochet and crochet in the round.
You will have the option to make items like a tea cosy, hot water bottle cover, bag, bookcover or fingerless gloves
If you have any questions or queries about any of the information here, please feel free to reach out to me and I'll be more than happy to clarify things for you!
I look forward to seeing you in class!!
Please note:
If you are wanting to only crochet or only darn, you are welcome to continue working on those projects during the whole 6 week block.
If you are wanting to book in for single sessions, any available spaces for the classes will open up as single session bookings once the first class has commenced.
